Ham Green

Ham Green Pottery
Ham Green Pottery

Ham Green Pottery was a medieval pottery near Pill, Somerset, active from about 1100 to 1250 AD. Its kiln was excavated in 1959 in the fields above Chapel Pill, and its pots were shipped out of Pill by boat. Ham Green ware has turned up as far apart as Portugal and Iceland. Because it was only made for a short, well-dated period, archaeologists use it to date the sites where it’s found. Bristol City Museum has a collection of it.
