The weather continues to be in our favour, just about perfect, mild with some sunshine and no persistent wind blowing. We have pushed on in Trench TR47 digging along parallel to the medieval wall structure. This has shown the wall is partly build on a natural bed of limestone but also rubble fill. The question is why has certain areas of the natural stone layers been removed and others left ,which also potentially shows different phase of development. Once we have more dug to this level we'll have a new 3D model produced, this hopefully, will not only record the feature but help us interpret the archaeology.

Also today a fascinating 'very' small find came out of trench TR50. It's a bead with integral loop, all made from bone, found in a secure medieval context. As it is so small this must demonstrate a high level of skill to produce - it is a lovely object. Some initial research give the possibility of early Medieval/ Viking, but this is highly speculative and not to be trusted at this point. However, we can not find an image of a similar bead so as usual more research to be done.
